Mbarara City was brought to a standstill today as Bobi Wine, the National Unity Platform (NUP) president, continued his nationwide Unity Tour. Thousands of supporters flooded the streets to welcome him, chanting songs of hope and waving party colors in excitement.
This marks one of Bobi Wine’s largest gatherings since the tour began, with the artist-turned-politician urging citizens to stay peaceful but strong in their demand for change.
“Our journey is about awakening Ugandans. We are not fighting anyone — we are fighting for a better Uganda,” Bobi Wine told the cheering crowd.
Security presence was heavy in Mbarara, but the event remained largely peaceful. Several NUP leaders accompanied Bobi Wine, emphasizing unity and resilience ahead of the 2026 elections.
Residents expressed optimism, saying that the tour has rekindled their belief in a democratic future. Local analysts note that the Mbarara rally reflects Bobi Wine’s growing support beyond central Uganda, showing that the opposition movement is gaining ground in western regions traditionally dominated by the ruling NRM party.
The Unity Tour is expected to continue across several districts in the coming days, with Bobi Wine promising to focus on youth empowerment, corruption, and social justice in his message.
