In a significant government reshuffle, Justice Naluzze has officially replaced Beti Olive Namisango Kamya as the Inspector General of Government (IGG) a move that signals renewed focus on transparency and anti-corruption efforts in Uganda.
The appointment, confirmed by State House on Monday, places Justice Naluzze at the helm of the Inspectorate of Government, the body mandated to fight corruption, abuse of office, and misconduct among public officials.
President Yoweri Museveni praised the new appointee, describing Justice Naluzze as “a disciplined, principled, and results-oriented leader.”
“Uganda’s fight against corruption must remain firm and impartial. Justice Naluzze brings integrity and legal expertise to this crucial office,” Museveni stated.
Beti Kamya, who has served as IGG since 2021, leaves office after several years marked by both praise and criticism for her bold anti-corruption stance. During her tenure, she pushed for stronger accountability measures and initiated several high-profile investigations.
Justice Naluzze, known for her judicial independence and experience in the High Court’s Anti-Corruption Division, is expected to continue the reforms, focusing on efficiency, digital transparency, and whistleblower protection.
“This office is not about politics it’s about justice and service to Ugandans,” Naluzze said during her brief acceptance speech.
Political analysts say her appointment comes at a critical time when the government faces increasing public pressure to act decisively on corruption cases involving top officials.
